I had a small wooden cutting board that I no longer used for camping. Instead of letting it sit forgotten, I decided to reshape it into a plate that fits perfectly inside my mess tin.
The process was a blend of different tools: a Narex spoon carving chisel for hollowing the center and fine details, and a Japanese flat chisel (Hira-Nomi) for the delicate exterior shaping. To finish, I applied Walnut Oil to enhance the wood's grain and ensure it is safe for food use. Bringing new purpose to old gear brings a quiet peace to the evening.
